News & Insights from Inside

There is a season of growth before us

The fall term wrapped up on a high note on February 27, and the energy in the classroom is shifting. For our current senior class, the finish line is in sight – with only three terms remaining, the countdown to their October graduation has officially begun. Speaking of milestones, we are thrilled to share that plans are taking shape for a joint graduation ceremony honoring Cohorts 4 and 5. This celebration will recognize the hard work of ten dedicated men; stay tuned for more details as we finalize the arrangements.

Cultivating Character:
The Inaugural Book Club

On January 27, we launched our very first book club for Fox Lake graduates. The group, comprised of 11 men from Cohort 4 and previous graduating classes, is currently diving into The Road to Character by David Brooks. The sessions provide a powerful forum for the men to explore deeper values and rethink their priorities. By studying Brooks’ insights on humility and moral depth, participants are working to build “rich inner lives” that will guide them long after the program ends.

The BRAVE Program

We are nearing the completion of our first offering of the BRAVE (Beginning Restoration and Victim Empowerment) program. This initiative has been particularly special as it is facilitated, in part, by two of our own graduates. The program is designed to help men approaching release understand the “ripple effect” of criminal behavior and the true impact on victims. Early feedback suggests the program has been a significant success. We will soon hold a follow-up meeting to evaluate the results and refine the curriculum for the next group of participants.

Fall Cohort

The search for the Fall 2026 cohort is officially underway. Applications have been carefully reviewed by Trinity and the Department of Corrections. We expect to announce final admission decisions for Cohort #9 by early April.
